Welcome to Marie's WSB Page!
On Saturday, May 10, 2025, I will be outside (rain or shine!) in search of birds as part of New Jersey Audubon’s World Series of Birding. It is the longest running birding competition and fundraiser in the US. WSB is a friendly competition among teams with the goal to identify the most species of birds. Every bird identified is entered in the Ebird database. That information is used by ornithologists to guide preservation efforts and track migratory patterns.
This year, I come prepared with waterproof hiking boots, bug spray, and a new binocular harness...after some “rookie” mistakes in 2024. I learned so much from last year’s WSB--from gear selection to how to tell the difference between the drumming sounds of different woodpeckers (there are over 50!). The Scherman Hoffman Century Run team is a wealth of knowledge. I’m excited to continue learning with this team in 2025.
Please consider donating to this important event, which raises money for New Jersey Audubon’s conservation efforts in education, habitat restoration and research.
You will receive a confirmation email after you donate and we will let you know how our team performs on the Big Day!
Thank you!
